Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC)

Are you working or planning to work in traffic management? In WA, you need to be accredited by Main Roads WA.

 

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC) accreditation is a Main Roads WA mandatory requirement for those controlling traffic on WA roads. This nationally accredited course provides the skills and knowledge required to implement traffic management, install and maintain traffic management signs and conduct traffic control using a stop-slow bat.

Civil Train Western Australia is a Main Roads WA approved training provider.

 
COURSE OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with the Main Roads WA accreditation and a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally recognised units:

  • RIICOM201D Communicate in the workplace
  • RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
  • RIIWHS205D Control traffic with stop-slow bat
  • RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plan
 

Main Roads WA accreditation is valid for 3 years before a refresher accreditation is required.

  • 2.5 Days

 

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT
 
This course is delivered face to face at our Jandakot training facility.
 
There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.
 
LOCATION
 
Public courses are scheduled frequently at the Civil Contractors Federation WA Training Facility – 70 Verde Drive Jandakot.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Hold the WorkSafe Construction Safety Awareness Card (White or Blue card)
  • Currently hold or previously held a drivers’ licence (must provide evidence of this)
  • Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
 
Entrants will need a level of language and literacy skills to enable them to meet the requirements of the course.

The applicant must be able to use the English language at a level that is appropriate to:

  • comply with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures
  • communicate clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions
  • communicate clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities
  • identify and select appropriate traffic guidance scheme and implement
  • apply legislative requirements
  • describe the effects of travel speed and vehicle mass on stopping distances

 

ALL LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION 

 

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, safety boots and hi-vis is required for the practical component of this course. Other sites may have other requirements which will be confirmed at the time of booking. Failure to wear the correct PPE may prevent the participant from completing the practical training and/or assessment.
