Civil Ready

What is the 'Civil Ready' program?

Civil Ready is designed to meet the needs of employers looking for entry level employees to work in their crews on a variety of civil tasks.

Sometimes we will run courses targeting specific cohorts such as our Civil Futures (young people) and Women in Civil (women) programs.

Civil Train is committed to providing quality training to the workforce of tomorrow and to help South Australian Civil Contractors find suitably trained and skilled employees.  As the training division of the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF), when you enrol with Civil Train, you are being trained by the industry.

With the support of the South Australian Government WorkReady initiative, Civil Train SA is able to provide subsidised training for our Civil Ready RII20715 Certificate II in Civil Construction program (eligibility criteria apply).

What will I learn?

Over twelve weeks you will be immersed into the world of civil construction.  We work with Civil Construction employers to build a course that meets their needs, so you can be sure that the skills you develop will place you in the best position to get that job!

Employers want entry level labourers who can prove themselves to be reliable, hard working and work in a range of scenarios.  Not only do we provide you with the skills and knowledge to undertake a range of civil tasks, we have support measures to ensure you work at your best and we overcome any difficulties together.

Civil Train works with Learner Support Services (LSS) to help you overcome any barriers to achievement.  All of our trainers are fully trained to support people with learning needs internally, however if we think you would benefit form external support, we can help you access that too.

Use our simulators to build up an understanding of what it is like to work with plant in a civil construction environment.

Where possible we link with our Members to provide site visits or work experience on major construction works.

With some good attendance and a bit of hard work, at the end of your program, you should have met all of the requirements to receive your RII20715 Certificate II in Civil Construction!

Will I have an opportunity to meet employers?

Because Civil Train is the training division of the Civil Contractors Federation, we have access to hundreds of potential employers, just looking for hardworking and reliable employees like you!

CCF SA can help you make all the right connections in the industry.  We promote our programs and graduates to employers through the activities of the CCF, including the website, our industry magazine, employer events and social media.

Upon completion of your course, we hold a graduation event with civil construction employers who are all eager to meet you and see if you could be their next employee.

We can't guarantee you employment, but we can provide you with opportunities to meet employers and put you forward for vacancies with CCF SA Members - the rest is up to you!  We know our Civil Ready programs train participants to industry standard, because our Members come to us to ask when our next set of graduates will be ready to be interviewed!

Interested?  Contact the office on 08 8111 8001 to find out when we are running our next course!
