HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
The aim of this course is to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to sustain life in an unconcious patient until medical aid arrives.
This course is delivered and assessed by St John Ambulance SA. You will be enrolled with St John Ambulance (RTO number: 88041) who will issue the Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of this course.
Course Content
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
Assessment
Please be aware that for the purposes of assessment you will be required to kneel on the floor to perform CPR on a training mannequin for a minimum of 2 minutes.
A Statement of Attainment is issued for successful completion of this unit for the following units:
- HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Course duration
- 3 hours
Entry Requirements
Participants with a language or literacy difficulty or other special needs should inform the training support staff or trainers so that appropriate assistance can be provided.
Certificate validity
As per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice, First Aiders should attend training on a regular basis to refresh their first aid knowledge and skills and to confirm their competence to provide first aid. Refresher training in CPR should be undertaken annually.
